FPYN Legacy - Community Healer's Project - Thurs April 28 6-8:30pm

Date(s):
Thursday, April 28, 2016

Hi there,

my name is Amahla. I was a volunteer with FPYN from 2010 to 2013.

I am starting an FPYN legacy project tentatively called the Community Healer's Project.  My vision is to create local support circles that meet regularly in different parts of the city, providing ongoing space for front-line youth workers to Connect, Network, Listen and Learn from each other.

The groups would be:

  • Low cost
  • Low infrastructure
  • Decentralized
  • Sustainable

We will, as FPYN did, look critically at the issue of "self-care", and what it takes to care for, and value vulnerable others within institutional and organizational structures.

I will be starting a pilot group, hosted by Youth Action Network. (They have inherited, and continue to host the FPYN website and the Mish Mash, with Keli Bellaire doing unpaid work to keep the Mish  Mash going out over the last few years!)

The first gathering will be very soon - Thursday April 28th, 2016 6:00 to 8:30 pm.

Please come if you:

  • Are interested in being part of this
  • Are interested in connecting with other front-line workers
  • Think you might want to lead a local group at some point
  • Are looking for a listening space for your issues with front-line work
  • Are just curious

And please pass this information along to anyone you think would benefit from it!
