United Way Toronto & York Region invites you to consider the following funding opportunities:

Community Services Sector Strategy:

PROGRAM FUNDING STREAM

The application process for the Community Services Sector Strategy’s (CSS) Program Funding Stream will open on April 3, 2017. On this date, you will be able to access United Way’s online funding system through the Funding Opportunities page on our website.

Through this funding stream, United Way aims to support a broad array of high quality programs, services and initiatives across the City of Toronto and York Region that reach and serve people who live in poverty or address the underlying causes of poverty through a systems approach. Organizations will have the opportunity to apply for 3-year renewable funding for high-impact programs that align with United Way’s CSS Program Framework.
 
This is an open call for proposals and all eligible organizations are welcome to apply.

To be eligible for funding, you must be a charitable organization or an incorporated non-profit organization, trusteed by a registered charity. Funding is open to organizations located and providing services in Toronto and/or York Region. 

NOTE: Organizations currently receiving funding from United Way Toronto & York Region under the following streams must re-apply through the Program Funding Stream: 

  • Toronto member agency
  • York Region partner agency
  • Success By 6® Grants Program
  • Winter Relief Grants Program 
  • Transition Fund
  • Youth Challenge Fund 

United Way anchor-funded agencies are not eligible for the CSS Program Funding Stream.

Youth Success Strategy:

DEVELOPMENT GRANT STREAM 

The application process for the Youth Success Strategy’s Development Grant Stream will open on April 3, 2017. On this date, you will be able to access United Way’s online funding system through the Funding Opportunities page on our website. 

This Development Grant is an opportunity for agencies to receive one-time funding to improve existing employability programs for youth between the ages of 17-29. To be eligible for funding, you must be a charitable organization or an incorporated non-profit organization, trusteed by a registered charity. The funding contract is for up to one year. The agency employability program must align to the goals of United Way’s Youth Success Strategy (YSS):

A.   Increase applications to post secondary education (PSE) among specific groups of youth facing multiple barriers

B.   Develop access to work relevant networks for youth facing multiple barriers

C.   Increase access to meaningful career opportunities (MCO) for high school graduates 

D.   Increase access to experiences that build employer recognized soft skills

*United Way Toronto and York Region uses the barriers as defined in the Province of Ontario’s  Stepping Up framework

The investment is intended to be used by agencies to:

a.    Develop and/or improve program design including logic models, evidence based activities, outreach/engagement, partnerships, etc.

b.    Gather data or evidence that supports the program’s existence and activities

c.     Develop or improve monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools

netWORKS                      

The application process for the Youth Success Strategy’s netWORKS Program Funding Stream will open on April 3, 2017. On this date, you will be able to access United Way’s online funding system through the Funding Opportunities page on our website.
 
netWORKS is a coordinated approach to career-oriented networking and mentoring opportunities for youth between the ages of 18-29. This initiative was developed in collaboration with Ten Thousand Coffees, Civic Action and United Way Toronto & York Region.
  
We invite organizations located and providing youth employment services in Toronto and/or York Region to apply to deliver the netWORKS program. The community partner will integrate the netWORKS program model into existing youth employment supports. To be eligible for funding, you must be a charitable organization or an incorporated non-profit organization, trusteed by a registered charity. The term of the funding contract is 7 months to support eighty youth to participate in netWORKS. United Way is seeking to contract two organizations, one serving York Region and another serving Rexdale.
