The Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth seeks an enthusiastic and customer service focused individual to provide IT support. 
 
Reporting to the Director of Technology Services, you will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of technology services for the Advocate’s Office.  You will provide technical expertise and day-to-day operational support as it relates to the administration and maintenance of computer systems and applications for users.
 
YOU WILL:

  • Administers day-to-day operations of the Office as it relates to the maintenance of systems, networking, preparation/maintenance of contingency and disaster recovery plans;
  • Managing the Iphone Server and Small Business Server;
  • Perform designing, coding, testing and implementation of IT software for projects;
  • Prepare test plans, test data and comprehensively tests problems prior to implementation;
  • Identify training needs, develops materials for a training manual and conducts both group and individual training sessions;
  • Provide technical expertise and support to users relating to the installation, maintenance and operation of business applications.

 
QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, and three years experience supporting information systems and technologies;
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and programs;
  • Technical expertise/knowledge of networking, LAN/WAN, as well as technical knowledge of HW/SW operations and utilities, Visual Basic, SQL; Server 2008/2016;
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships, and promote efficient and effective operations;
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work, multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature;
  • Job requires knowledge of Government and Provincial Advocate administrative policies and directives to ensure compliance for recommendations on technology and services.

 
Police background check including a vulnerable person sector screening is required.
 
This position is covered by the AMAPCEO Collective Agreement and benefit provisions are consistent with those for classified staff under that agreement.
