Youth Against Violence basketball tournament - July 2 & 3

Hi everyone,

Please see the flyer for the upcoming Youth Against Violence basketball tournament. The competition is fierce and the teams are all ready to go.

Please note: if you have a team in the tournament feel free bring youth from your community to support. There will be workshops opened to everyone (see workshop schedule attached), and interactive stations in the hallway including a Xbox NBA 2K station and community information tables!. There will also be youth councils on site fundraising (so bring a toonie or 2 to support).

Beautiful Minds is a project that empowers youth by promoting acceptance, self-care and positive mental health in the community. The project aims to create a safe haven of support for youth through mindfulness and contemporary culture of today.

Workshop 1 will be on Self-Care and Mndfulness by using music and writing to explore these topics. Volunter hours will be provided for youth and food!!

Queer Asian Youth K-POP Dance Workshop!

Jolin Starr, a great performer and entertainer who has been featured at many fashion shows and clubbing events (like, AX), will be leading this K-POP dance workshop! 
 
If you've ever watched a K-POP music video, there's a 99.9% chance that you've attempted to imitate the group or artist's dance moves! Well, now you can actually learn the routines!! If you're interested in the world of K-POP or just enjoy choreographed dancing, come join this two-part dance workshop! 
 

42 Rides BMX Skatepark

The 42 Rides BMX Skatepark (formerly Malvern Skatepark) is now open!  Join us on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's from 4-8 pm for drop-in Skateboarding sessions, and Tuesday's and Thursday's also from 4-8 pm for drop-in BMX sessions.  We have an equipment bank available with Skateboards, BMX  bikes and protective equipment for participants of all ages, and will provide free learning clinics throughou the summer.  The park is located at 30 Sewells Road inside Arena #2 at the Malvern Community and Recreation Centre.

Newcomer Youth Program: Summer Camping

West Neighbourhood House, Newcomer Youth Program has confirmed the summer camping trip taking place on August 19- August 21st.  It is a 3 day, 2 night trip open to all permanent residents and convention refugees ages 13-24.

QAY Home Fitness Workshop!

Can't afford a gym membership? or don't like going to a public gym? Well, you can have a full workout at home and utilize the park or your backyard!!

Come to Christie Pits park (ACAS office, if it's raining) and learn some fun workouts with common household items. Learn about proper workout form, nutrition and how to realistically reach your health and fitness goals!

Light refreshments and tokens will be provided, but please bring your own towel, and water bottle!!

I am extending an invitation to our event in our community in hopes that you will attend. I would like to introduce an initiative aimed at building the bridges between the youth and the police.  

 

The Esplanade Youth Movement is proud to present ``5 on 5 youth vs. Metro Toronto Police Basketball Tournament`` at the Esplanade Basketball Court on The Esplanade between Princess St. & Hahn Pl. on July 17 2016. This event along with Toronto Police (51 Division) is aimed to create unity between youth and Toronto Police.
